Jason joined the ASHA Board of Directors in 2014, but his family has ties to ASHA dating back to 1999 where his brother, Greg Costa, was one of the first junior volunteers. While growing up in Maryland, Jason was exposed to hockey at an early age and developed a passion for the game. Jason participated in the Select 15, 16 and 17 USA Hockey Player Development Camps, played two years with Danville Wings in the NAHL and in his final year won the NAHL Championship and finished 3rd in the USA Junior Hockey Championship. Following his Junior A career, Jason was recruited and played over 100 games at Dartmouth College a D. 1 NCAA program in Hanover, New Hampshire. At Dartmouth College, Jason studied economics and computer science, and was named to the ECAC All-Academic team all four years.
Following graduation, Jason worked at several investment firms in New York City and Washington DC. It was also during this time that he joined the Washington Ice Dogs as senior coach. As a coach with the Washington Ice Dogs, Jason helped with both the A and B teams. During his time with the Washington Ice Dogs, an opportunity opened up for the ASHA Treasurer position and Jason formally joined the ASHA Board of Directors in 2014. Jason has been instrumental in managing the financial health of American Special Hockey and investing in new opportunities to help grow the sport through awareness and tournaments in North America.
A native to the Washington DC area, Jason currently lives in Maryland with his wife and two young children.
